Total Eclipse

A Word of Encouragement

eclipse

This picture of the eclipse reminded me

that even when we are at our darkest hour (or minutes), the Cross is what will bring us back into the Light. No matter what is causing your darkness, look to Christ. We have a God that loves us and died on the Cross to show us. Turn to the only One who can turn darkness into Light, Jesus Christ. I love it when God sends us visual reminders of His Love for us.

Two Things

The life of Abraham is an illustration of two things:

of unreserved surrender to God, and of God’s complete possession of a child of His for His own highest end.

God’s purpose for our life is to bring Him glory.  The chief end of man is to glorify God by enjoying Him forever. This is not man’s goal, but God’s goal for man. This is best accomplished when we unreservedly surrender to God.  This surrender doesn’t happen until we realize the unconditional love Jesus demonstrated on the cross and continues to pour into to our lives. Do you realize that God’s possession of you is unconditional and eternal?

Have You Come to “When” Yet?

And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends. — Job 42:10

There is a great deal of prayer that comes from actual disbelief in the atonement. Jesus is not just beginning to save us—He has already saved us completely. It is an accomplished fact, and it is an insult to Him for us to ask Him to do what He has already done.

Freedom is Just Another Word

Freedom is Just Another Word

Remember the line from the song by Janis Joplin, Me and Bobby McGee? “Freedom is just another word for nothing else to lose.” It amazes me how the world can get it right, but have a totally different meaning behind why they said it.

Here is what the world means by ‘nothing else to lose’ or freedom. Freedom to them is that none of their ideas can be challenged. Their behavior, beliefs, or lifestyle are beyond reproach. They can behave like they want, and it is someone else’s problem if they don’t agree. It is not that they have nothing to lose, but that they don’t want to be put in a position to lose something. They have created their own pseudo-freedom.

So, what is true freedom? Freedom truly is when you have nothing else to lose! Christ gave everything, including His Life, so we may know the One True God. The Bible says we have been bought with a price and we truly are not our own. It is only when you give up everything, that you have the freedom to know the God that gave up everything to make that possible. It is only when we die to self that we truly know freedom made possible by Jesus and not the pseudo-freedom created by the world.

New School Prayer

By a 15-year-old school kid who got an A+ for this entry

(TOTALLY AWESOME)!
The Lord’s Prayer is not allowed in most
U.S. Public schools any more.
A kid in Minnesota, wrote the following

NEW School Prayer:-
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.
If scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.
Our hair can be purple, orange or green,
That’s no offense; it’s a freedom scene..
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.
For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all..
In silence alone we must meditate,
God’s name is prohibited by the State..
We’re allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks…
They’ve outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.
We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the ‘unwed daddy,’ our Senior King.
It’s ‘inappropriate’ to teach right from wrong,
We’re taught that such ‘judgments’ do not belong..
We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles…
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.
It’s scary here I must confess,
When chaos reigns the school’s a mess.
So, Lord, this silent plea I make:
Should I be shot; My soul please take!
Amen
